Every fantasy football owner is always looking for the next move to propel his team to championship status. I will highlight one player from each major position that had a fantasy football break out game in week 12 and share with you my sleeper’s for week 13.

Fantasy Football Week 12 Breakout Players:

Fantasy football Tom Brady
Tom Brady drops back to throw a pass.

New England Patriots’ Tom Brady made the New York Jets secondary look like high school freshmen last Thursday night as he threw for 323 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 INTs in route to a 49-19 win. Brady was sharp all night as he connected with 7 different Patriot receivers including Anthony Hernandez (first game played since Week 7) and ended his night 18-27 (66% completion rate). Although Hernandez did not put up a statistical game to his standards (2 rec, 36 yards), he opened up one on one coverages outside where Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd were able to take advantage and ended the night with 10 catches, 97 yards, and a TD combined. The Patriots should be ranked #1 in the power rankings as their points for/points against ratio is +24 and they are averaging 37 points per game. Look for Brady and the Pats to stay hot.

Fantasy football Bryce Brown
Bryce Brown rumbles forward.

Philadelphia Eagles’ Bryce Brown filled in for the injured LeSean McCoy in a big way, as he ripped off 178 rushing yards and 2 TDs against the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football. This was Brown’s first career start in the NFL and should be a game that he and fantasy owners don’t forget any time soon. Brown is still available in 38% of leagues according to Yahoo Sports, and with McCoy likely to be out again in Week 13 look for Brown to get the majority of the touches for the Eagles vs. the Cowboys. Brown is a solid start in a flex position this week or a strong RB2 in deeper leagues as the Cowboys are giving up over 100 yards a game to opposing running backs. Brown did surrender two fumbles in his monster Monday night performance, which had Andy Reid concerned after the game,  but really, what is Andy Reid not concerned about these days? Play Brown if you can.

fantasy football Julio Jones
Julio Jones pulls away from the Bucs defense.

Atlanta Falcons’ Julio Jones had a nice bounce back game this past Sunday vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he ended his day with 6 receptions for 147 yards and a TD. There was no sign of Jones’s injured ankle that forced him to leave the game in the third quarter in the Falcons Week 11 game vs. the Arizona Cardinals, as Jones was exploding out of cuts, leaping over defenders, and running away from the entire defense for most of Sunday’s game vs. the Bucs. Jones scored 26 points last week against the Buccaneers and look for him to have a big day this Sunday against another division rival, the New Orleans Saints. The Saints pass defense is ranked 30th in the NFL as they give up 298 yards a game through the air, and our coming off of a game where they allowed 231 passing yards on only 25 attempts.

Fantasy Football Week 13 Sleepers:

fantasy football sleeper Ryan Tannehill
Ryan Tannehill drops back

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is coming off of a solid game where he threw for 253 yards and a TD against the Seattle Seahawks. More importantly, Tannehill led his Dolphins to a win by constructing a last minute drive, which ended with a Dan Carpenter field goal as time expired. Tannehill is coming into his Week 13 matchup against the New England Patriots with momentum and should experience some of the same success he found last week against the Seahawks. This is the last regular season week of many fantasy leagues, and if your team is on the doorstep of a playoff birth, Tannehill may be the spot starter to get you in. He is currently available in 81% of leagues according to Yahoo Sports, so if you are weak at the QB position Tannehill should be an easy pick up. He also has found chemistry with WR Davone Bess, who has 17 catches for 232 yards and a TD in his last three games. This is an added weapon for Tannehill to go along with Brain Hartline and Reggie Bush.

fantasy football Jacquizz Rodgers
Jacquizz Rodgers should have a big week

Atlanta’s Jacquizz Rodgers had 49 rushing yards, 30 receiving yards, 73 return yards, and a rushing touchdown in the Falcons win last Sunday vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rodgers has consistently taken carries away from Michael Turner for the past three weeks, and received 10 carries Sunday compared to Turner’s 13. Rodgers was targeted 5 times in the passing game and caught two passes for thirty yards while Turner was not targeted once in the Falcons’ passing game last Sunday in Tampa. Rodgers is available in 51% of fantasy leagues according to Yahoo Sports, and is a 12-15 point player a week in leagues that are using PPR scoring and award return yard points. Rodgers would have scored 15 points last week in a league using these settings, and should see more success this week as he goes against the New Orleans Saints who give up 156 yards a game to opposing running backs.

fantasy football brandon stokley
Brandon Stokley celebrates with his teammates after a TD last week.

The Ninja’s Sleeper WR for Week 13 is Denver Broncos’ Brandon Stokley. Somehow, Stokley is still available in 76% of fantasy leagues according to Yahoo Sports, and now has at least 50 yards receiving and a touchdown in his last three games.  Stokley was targeted 6 times last week against the Kansas City Chiefs, and ended with 4 catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. Stokley has been very productive working out of the slot for the last month, as defenses are giving more attention to Erick Decker and Demaryius Thomas on the outside, as they should. Peyton has also settled into a nice groove as he looks like the Hall of Fame QB that we all came to know before neck surgery, and is picking defenses apart week in and week out. Look for Peyton to light up the Bucs secondary this week who have not been able to stop anyone all year, and for Stokley to be on the receiving end of some passes. Stokley could prove to be a great pickup going into the playoffs as he has been a consistent 12+ point player over his last 4 games.
