NBA Week 14 Fantasy Hoops Watch and Waivers
Week 14 Fantasy Watch
The Nuggets have quietly emerged as fantasy must start opponent. They have crept into the bottom 10 in 4 out of 6 major fantasy categories, PPGA, FG%A, SPGA, & BPGA. I’m not suggested the Nuggets are a bad squad, but it seems their style of play benefits opponents from a fantasy stand point.
Tune your roster especially in daily leagues, as it is a light week. Only 11 teams play 4 times and 16 squads play 3 times. The Hawks, Thunder, and Spurs only play twice. The Jazz, Lakers, Hornets, and Warriors each have four game slates with favorable match ups.
NBA Week 14 Fantasy Player Watch
Avery Bradley G Boston Celtics (%1.7 owned)
Bradley is the only true 1-guard for the Celts now that Rajon Rondo is out for the year with an ACL injury. He averages only 6 fantasy points per game, but that should increase with Rondo out.
Courtney Lee SG Boston Celtics (%3 owned)
Lee is the other player that will see a significant boost in minutes with Rondo out. Featured in a package with Jason Terry, early chemistry seems favorable to Lee exploding more often like he did last week for 24 points against the Hawks.
Recently emerged three point help is vanishing fast.
Kyle Korver SG Atlanta Hawks (%83 owned)
Korver is on fire right now and owners took notice of his 8 3′s against the Celtics last week.
Carlos Delfino SF/SG Houston Rockets (%50 owned)
Although not putting up as many points as Korver lately, he has scored in double digits six games in a row.
Mike Dunleavy SF/SG Milwaukee Bucks (%20 owned)
Probably the most realistic waiver pick up for three point help in deeper leagues, Dunleavy averages 1.9 treys per game.
NBA Week 14 Fantasy Sleepers
Earl Clark PF Los Angeles Lakers (%14 owned)
Earl Clark brings some much needed youthful energy to the Lakers. His minutes are continuing to rise as he remains in the starting line up even with Pau Gasol healthy. His hybrid style of offensive play and ability to run the court fits well in Coach D’Antoni’s system.
Devin Harris G Atlanta Hawks (%6 owned)
Harris is injured right now, but he will be healthy any day. Once he’s back, he should start seeing major minutes with teammate Lou Williams out for the season. Harris is averaging 1.4 treys per game in only 24 minutes. With minutes now rising into the 30+ range, and eligibility at both guard spots, Harris is a great pick up.
Chris Johnson C Minnesota Timberwolves (%0.7 owned)
Last week, Johnson was mentioned as a sleeper pick, and he is averaging 12 fantasy points per game since he was signed to a 10-day deal with the T-Wolves. It is tough to imagine him maintaining a 12 point per game average once his injured teammates begin to trickle back into the lineup, but ride him while he’s getting minutes in very deep leagues.
Luke Babbit PF Portand Trailblazers (%0.1 owned)
This weeks very deep league sleeper special, Babbit is more of a player to watch in traditional formats. Babbit doesn’t get enough minutes to contribute to your team in regular leagues. However, he shoots threes at a higher attempt rate than specialists like J.J. Reddick. If the Blazers suffer just one injury to a wing player, Babbit could start raining from behind the arc.
Darrell Author PF Memphis Grizzles (%0.5 owned)
Author is recieving more minutes due to injuries in the Grizzles’ frontcourt. He is now the main player coming off the bench in the 3,4, and 5 spots. With a team high 20 points in 28 minutes off the bench in a win against the Lakers last week, Author is probably in for more opportunities.
Fantasy Week 14 Waiver Trends:
- Tiago Splitter +%34 to %67
- Al-Farouq Aminu +%26 to %58 owned
- Eric Bledsoe +%25 to %41 owned
- Andre Miller -%34 to %26 owned
- Matt Barnes -%26 to %67 owned
