Rudy Gay slam
Rudy Gay leaves behind opportunities for fantasy owners

Week 15 Fantasy Watch

With Rudy Gay’s departure to Toronto, there are plenty of options to choose from off the Grizzles’ team on the waiver wire. Trade rumors are now surrounding the Raptors again, with GM Bryan Colangelo feeling hot after the Gay trade. Viable fantasy impact players such as Jose Calderon or Ed Davis could leave. The Kings are also another team who could dump given that the only certainty they have right now is lottery status in the draft. Thomas Robinson (%6 owned) is a very good athlete on the Kings who is stuck on the bench behind teammate Jason Thompson (%17.6 owned). If he goes somewhere, he could be a deep league hero if you snag him before others.

NBA teams with 4 games and a favorable slate are the Jazz, Lakers, Rockets, and Nuggets. Squads with poor match ups are the Hawks (3 games), Raptors (3 games), Clippers (4 games), and the Celtics (3 games).

NBA Week 15 Fantasy Player Watch

E'Twaun Moore
E’Twaun Moore earned the start on Saturday.

Jameer Nelson PG Orlando Magic (%100 owned)

Nelson left Friday’s game against the Celtics with an elbow injury and is officially listed day to day. As far as the Magic backcourt goes, he and J.J. Reddick are really the only real threats to put up scoring for the Magic. Back up E’Twaun Moore (%2 owned) did well when he earned a start on Saturday and he could see a huge bulk of the minutes if Nelson injures his elbow further.

Cleveland Cavilers guards

There are some pretty impressive young players competing for time in what is sort of a hodgepodge starting lineup for the Cavs so far this season. The current starter Dion Waiters (%80 owned) has all of the tools to be a good player. Nipping at his heels for the two spot are teammates C.J Miles (%2 owned) and Wayne Ellington (%0 owned). The player to really keep an eye on here is Waiters. If he goes down with injury or slump expect Miles to see the bulk of the minutes.

NBA Week 15 Fantasy Sleepers

Alexey Shved dribbles
Alexey Shved has played his way into more minutes

Alexey Shved G Minessota Timberwolves (%9 owned)

Shved is one of the T-Wolves top options off the bench right now. A combination of poor play from starter Luke Rindour and injury issues surrounding Ricky Rubio could lead to Shved seeing a bigger role in the Timberwolves’ offense.

Andre Drummond PF/C Detroit Pistons (%52 owned)

After taking a couple months to settle in, Drummond is having his best month of the season by far, and has seen his minutes per game increase into the twenties. He is fairly balanced, above average fantasy player, shooting with good efficiency, monster rebounding, and athleticism to add a couple blocks and steals per game.

Leoandro Barbosa SG Boston Celtics (%2 owned)

It doesn’t seem like C’s coach Doc Rivers wants to do anything drastic as far as finding a scoring and defensive replacement for Rondo quite yet, but it does seem like Leoandro Barbosa could be the guy. Last week, I tried to point out some guys who could literally replace Rondo’s minutes. However, I missed who would be picking up for the lost production. Barboasa was having scoring lines such as 5, 4, 2, and 0 before Rondo got hurt. In three games since, 9, 7, and 12 to go along with 5 boards and 10 assists.

Tayshaun Prince SF Memphis Grizzlies (%12 owned)

Grizzlies’ management must have known the role they wanted for Prince when they acquired him, and that role seems to be a big one. He came off the bench in his debut, but played starter minutes and was second on the team in scoring for the night.

Tyler Zeller PF/C Cleveland Cavilers (%13 owned)

To put it simply, Zeller plays three opponents this week who are highly susceptible to the blocked shot. If you need help in the front court with blocks, Zeller is a good add and start this week.

Nick Young SG Philadelphia 76ers (%10 owned)

With Jason Richardson’s knee showing no signs of improvement, Young should remain in the starting line up for now. Young plays the Magic this week, who have been giving up a lot more threes lately, and he also plays the Bobcats who are overall good fantasy opponents.

Taj Gibson PF/C Chicago Bulls (%5 owned)

Gibson will continue to see minutes in the high thirties while the Bulls sort out injury problems. Most important to Gibson’s fantasy production is injured teammate Carlos Boozer. Hamstrings can go either way depending on severity. Feel free to pick up Gibson with stat lines reading like they did on Wednesday: 14 points, 3 blocks, and 9 rebounds in just under 34 minutes.
